Commonwealth 1652/0 gold Crown AU50, no D in ENGLAND
Commonwealth (1649-60), gold Crown, 1652, 2 of date struck over 0, English shield within laurel and palm branch, legends in English language, initial mark sun without stops, final letter D of legend omitted, THE COMMONWEALTH OF ENGLAN, rev. English and Irish shields, value .V. above, beaded circle and legend surrounding, date at top, smaller lettering than obverse, GOD. WITH. VS., weight 2.20g (Schneider 360; Bull EGC 64 R5; N.2719; S.3212). Toned with a nice red colour, weak in parts with some light double striking in obverse legend, has been slabbed and graded by NGC as AU50 and a rare variation with the D omitted in legend, extremely rare.
