Zeugitana, Carthage (c. 260 B.C.), Gold Trihemistater. Head of Tanit-Persephone facing left, wearing a wreath of barley, a triple-pendant earring, and a necklace with pendants, rev. horse standing right, its head turned to left, 12.41g., 12h (Jenkins-Lewis, group IX, 377ff.; Gulbenkian 384). Perfectly centred and extremely fine, a wonderful piece of numismatic art.
