William & Mary 1692 silver Fourpence, first A unbarred in MARIA
William and Mary (1689-94), silver Fourpence, 1692, retrograde Arabic 1 in date, conjoined second busts right with hair ties, reads GVLIELMVS. ET. MΛRIA. D.G, with first A of Queen's name unbarred, rev. crowned mark of value, legend surrounds MAG. BR. FR. ET. HIB. REX. ET. REGINA, weight 2.07g (Seaman 103 dies R/13; Bull.891; ESC.1873; Robinson p.152:106 (iii); S.3440). Some flecking, a bold fine and scarce.
The Latin legends translate to on obverse "William and Mary by the Grace of God" continuing on the reverse as "King and Queen of Great Britain, France and Ireland.
The Robinson reference claims both As in Queen's name are unbarred, when it is clearly not.
