William & Mary 1690 silver Threepence, 9 over 6, stops at DG

William and Mary (1689-94), silver Threepence, 1690, 9 punched over 6 in date with retrograde Arabic 1, conjoined first busts right now divide legend with stop over head, GVL below busts, reads GVLIELMVS ET . MARIA. D.G., no stop after King's name and last three stops in a descending pattern from high to low, rev. crowned mark of value, legend surrounds MAG. BR. FR. ET. HIB. REX. ET. REGINA., no stop after date, weight 1.57g (Seaman 61, dies E/9; Bull.925; ESC. 1989B; Robinson p.151: 97 [iv]; S.3441). Toned, about very fine and very rare.

The Latin legends translate to on obverse "William and Mary by the Grace of God" continuing on the reverse as "King and Queen of Great Britain, France and Ireland.

The 1690 Fourpence, Threepence and penny are the only small silver coins of this date with no maundy set available.
