William IV (1830-37), silver Groat, 1836, bare head right, toothed outer borders both sides, legend surrounds GULIELMUS IIII D: G: BRITANNIAR: REX F: D:, rev. Britannia seated right, date in exergue, FOUR - PENCE above, weight 1.89g (Bull.2515; ESC.1918; S.3837). Toned, some flecking, a bold very fine.

The Latin legend translated to William the Fourth by the Grace of God, King of the Britons, Defender of the Faith".

This actual coin is illustrated as plate 76 in Silver Pennies and Linen Towels by Dr Brian Robinson in relation to page 168 where he remarks that the die used for the obverse bust likely shared the same master tool as the Maundy Threepence.

Mintage = 4,253,040.
