William IV 1836 Pattern Groat

William IV (1830-37), Pattern silver Groat, 1836, bare head right, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, GUIELMUS IIII D: G: BRITANNIAR: REX F: D: rev. struck en medaille, Britannia seated right with trident and shield, date in exergue, FOUR PENCE legend around upper half, edge milled, weight 1.85g (Bull 2523; ESC 1924 R3; Davies 390). Lightly toned mainly around rim, otherwise practically as struck and very rare.

The Latin legend translates as "William the Fourth by the grace of God, King of the Britons, Defender of the Faith."
