William IV 1834 Half-Sovereign, small module issue one year only type

William IV (1830-37), gold Half-Sovereign, 1834, small diameter flan 17.9mm, bare head right, GULIELMUS IIII D: G: BRITANNIAR: REX F: D:, toothed border around rim both sides, rev. crowned quartered shield of arms in frame, ANNO 1834 below, weight 3.94g (Hill 410; Bull EGC 1040 R2; S.3830). Copper red hue, some surface marks, small X mark on reverse, very fine and rare.

Calendar year mintage 133,899.

The Latin legends translates on obverse as "William IV by the Grace of God, King of the Britains, Defender of the Faith," and on the reverse "In the year 1834."

The gold Half-Sovereign of 1834 is the only British gold coin dated for this year as there were no Sovereigns minted.
