William IV (1830-37), gold Half-Sovereign, 1834, small diameter flan 17.9mm, bare head right, GULIELMUS IIII D: G: BRITANNIAR: REX F: D:, toothed border around rim both sides, rev. crowned quartered shield of arms in frame, ANNO 1834 below, weight 3.98g (Hill 410 R2; EGC.1040; MCE.495; S.3830). Toned with many tiny digs on obverse, other light spots and marks, very fine, reverse good very fine, one year only type.

Calendar year mintage 133,899.

The Latin legends translates on obverse as "William IV by the Grace of God, King of the Britains, Defender of the Faith," and on the reverse "In the year 1834." The gold Half-Sovereign of 1834 is the only British gold coin dated for this year as there were no Sovereigns minted.
