William IV (1830-37),gold Half-Sovereign, 1834, small diameter flan 17.9mm, bare head right, GULIELMUS IIII D: G: BRITANNIAR: REX F: D:, toothed border around rim both sides,rev.crowned quartered shield of arms in frame, ANNO 1834 below, edge milled, weight 4.00g (Marsh 410; EGC.1040 R2; MCE.495; S.3830).Bold strike, lustrous tone complimented by excellent definition and detail, encapsulated and graded by NGC as MS 64, making our example in the top four for the NGC census.

Calendar year mintage 133,899.

The Latin legends translates on obverse as "William IV by the Grace of God, King of the Britains, Defender of the Faith," and on the reverse "In the year 1834." The gold Half-Sovereign of 1834 is the only British gold coin dated for this year as there were no Sovereigns minted.
