William IV (1830-37),gold Sovereign, 1831, second bare head right, nose points to second I in legend with flatter ear, W.W. incuse on truncation, GULIELMUS IIII D: G: BRITANNIAR: REX F: D:, toothed border around rim both sides, rev. crowned quartered shield of arms in frame, ANNO 1831 below, weight 7.84g (Bentley 26; Marsh 16C R5; S.3829B).Toned, with wear to high points and surface marks, good fine and very rare indeed.

Calendar year mintage 598,547 of which a very small proportion would be this variety.

The abbreviated Latin legend on the obverse translates as "William the Fourth by the Grace of God, King of the Britains, Defender of the Faith.
