William IV 1831 Proof Halfpenny

William IV (1830-37), Proof bronzed copper Halfpenny, 1831, bare head right, w.w. incuse on truncation for engraver William Wyon, date below, legend and toothed border surrounding, GULIELMUS IIII DEI GRATIA, rev. inverted die axis, Britannia seated right with trident and shield, parallel incuse lines on saltire of shield, legend and toothed border surrounding, BRITANNIAR: REG: FID: DEF: emblems in exergue, weight 9.57g (Peck 1475; S.3848). Toned with some light hairlines, a few spots and flecks otherwise good extremely fine practically as struck, becoming rare.

The Latin legends translates on obverse as "William IV by the Grace of God," and on the reverse "King of the Britains, Defender of the Faith."
