William III (1694-1702),gold Guinea, 1701, second laureate head right, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, GVLIELMVS. III. DEI. GRA.,rev. crowned cruciform shields, narrow crowns, ornamental sceptres in angles, Lion of Nassau as an escutcheon at centre, date either side of top crown, abbreviated Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, .MAG BR.FRA ET.HIB REX., edge obliquely milled, weight 8.34g (Schneider.509 same reverse die ; MCE 186; Farey 440; EGC 425 - dies c/18; S.3463). Some contact marks and hairlines, fields mirrored with original mint brilliance, subtle detail in the portrait, good fine, reverse very fine.

The Latin legends translate to on obverse "William the Third by the Grace of God" and abbreviated on the reverse as "King of Great Britain, France and Ireland."

The 1701 calendar year had an output of £1,190,019 worth of gold struck into coin.
