William III (1694-1702), silver Crown, 1700, third laureate and draped bust variety right, legend and toothed border surrounding, GVLIELMVS. III. DEI. GRA. rev. crowned cruciform shields, eight strings to Irish harp of third type, Lion of Nassau at centre, date either side of top crown, .MAG. BR.FRA. ET.HIB. REX., edge inscribed in raised letters and dated, +.DECVS. ET. TVTAMEN. ANNO. REGNI. DVODECIMO., 29.94g (Bull 1010; ESC 97; S.3474). Attractively toned, proof-like underlying brilliance, darker patch of tone on cheek and central hair, otherwise extremely fine, reverse good extremely fine, a very nice example indeed.

The Latin legends translate as on the obverse "William III by the Grace of God," and abbreviated on the reverse as "King of Great Britain, France and Ireland" and on the edge as "an ornament and a safeguard, in the twelfth year of his reign."
