William III 1696 Crown third bust MS62

William III (1694-1702), silver Crown, 1696, third laureate and draped bust right, legend and toothed border surrounding, GVLIELMVS. III. DEI. GRA. rev. crowned cruciform shields, Lion of Nassau at centre, early harp, date either side of top crown, .MAG. BR.FRA. ET.HIB. REX. edge inscribed in raised letters and dated, +.+.DECVS. ET. TVTAMEN. .ANNO. REGNI. OCTAVO., (Bull 1004; ESC 94; S.3472). Toned, a little weakly struck at the breastplate which helps define the third bust, extremely fine, has been graded and slabbed by NGC as MS62 and incorrectly defined on the label with an ESC reference to the first bust.

NGC Certification 2033803-005.

The Latin legends translate as on the obverse "William III by the Grace of God," and abbreviated on the reverse as "King of Great Britain, France and Ireland." and additionally on the edge "An ornament and a safeguard, in the eighth year of the reign."
