William III (1694-1702),silver Crown, 1696, error legend GEI for DEI, first laureate and draped bust right, legend and toothed border surrounding, GVLIELMVS. III. GEI. GRA.,rev.crowned cruciform shields, Lion of Nassau at centre, early harp with seven strings, date either side of top crown, .MAG. BR.FRA. ET.HIB. REX., edge inscribed in raised letters and dated, +.+.DECVS. ET. TVTAMEN. .ANNO. REGNI. OCTAVO.+.+, weight 29.88g (Bull 1000 R5; ESC 91; S.3470).Toned, with wear to high points, red stain on one part of obverse rim, dig on rim by King's name, fine to bold fine and extremely rare.

The Latin legends translate as on the obverse "William III by the Grace of God," and abbreviated on the reverse as "King of Great Britain, France and Ireland." and additionally on the edge "An ornament and a safeguard, in the eighth year of the reign."

A classic die sinker error, the GEI for DEI Crown is an extreme rarity.
