William and Mary (1688-94),gold Guinea, 1691, conjoined busts right, legend surrounding, GVLIELMVS. ET. MARIA. DEI. GRATIA, toothed border around rim both sides,revcrowned quartered shield of arms, Lion of Nassau as an escutcheon at centre, date either side of crown, .MAG. BR. FR. ET. HIB. REX. ET. REGINA., weight 8.16g (Schneider -; Bull EGC 372; Farey 330 VR; MCE 152; S.3426).Once cleaned in the past, parallel adjustment marks on cheek of King evident, short old scratch on hair of King, some flecking on reverse partly faded by cleansing, other light nicks and slight undulation to flan, otherwise good fine and a very rare date.

The Latin legends translate to on obverse "William and Mary by the Grace of God" continuing on the reverse as "King and Queen of Great Britain, France and Ireland." The total output of gold coinage in the calendar year of 1691 was £54,497 which was the second lowest of the reign.
