Victoria (1837-1901), silver Crown, 1898 LXI, old veiled head left, T.B. below for engraver Thomas Brock, legend and toothed border around rim, VICTORIA. DEI. GRA. BRITT. REGINA. FID. DEF. IND. IMP. rev. St George slaying dragon, date in exergue, B.P. to upper right for designer Benedetto Pistrucci, edge inscribed in raised letters, *DECVS ET TVTAMEN* ANNO REGNI LXI, weight 28.33g (Bull 2604; ESC 319; Davies 525; S.3937). Lightly toned a bold very fine.
The Latin legends translates on obverse as "Victoria by the Grace of God, Queen of the Briton's, Defender of the Faith, Empress of India." And on the edge "An ornament and a safeguard, in the sixty first year of the reign."
