Victoria 1897 Penny

Victoria (1837-1901), bronze Penny, 1897, older veiled bust left, T.B. below for engraver Thomas Brock, legend and toothed border surrounding, VICTORIA. DEI. GRA. BRITT. REGINA. FID. DEF. IND. IMP. rev. Britannia seated right with trident and shield, sea at usual level, denomination in words surrounding, date in exergue (Freeman 145, dies 1+b; S.3961). A few tiny nicks, some toning on obverse otherwise with full lustre, uncirculated.

The Latin legend translates as "Victoria, by the grace of God, Queen of the Britons, Defender of the Faith, Empress of India."
