Victoria (1837-1901), gold Proof Five Pounds, 1893, crowned, veiled bust left, T.B. initials below truncation for engraver Thomas Brock, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, VICTORIA· DEI· GRA· BRITT· REGINA· FID· DEF· IND· IMP·, rev. St George and dragon right, date in exergue, B.P. to upper right of exergue (WR 287; S.3872). Brilliant with some light hairlines, has been graded and slabbed by NGC as PR62 CAMEO, rare in the UK marketplace.
Official mintage of 773 pieces.
The abbreviated Latin legend translates as "Victoria, by the grace of God, Queen of the Britons, Defender of the Faith, Empress of India."
