Victoria (1837-1901), gold Half-Sovereign, 1893 M, Melbourne Mint, Australia, Golden Jubilee style bust facing left, designed by J Edgar Boehm, small crown and veil on head, pearl earring with pearl necklace, I.E.B. initials close together raised on truncation with imperfect J, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, VICTORIA DEI GRATIA, rev. struck en medaille, crowned quartered low shield of arms, date below more spread out either side of bottom of frame, legend commences lower left with toothed border surrounding, BRITANNIARUM REGINA FID: DEF: edge milled, weight 3.96g (DISH M507 R2; Marsh 484 R2; S.3870B). Toned a bold fine and rare.

Mintage 110,024.

The Latin legend translates as "Victoria by the grace of God," on obverse and as "Queen of the Britains, Defender of the Faith" on the reverse.
