Victoria 1887 Spink silvered-brass pattern Sixpence PF61, M.E., JRT on truncation R7

Victoria (1837-1901), Pattern Sixpence, 1887, struck in silver, produced by Joseph Rochelle Thomas with Spink & Son, ornate and detailed crowned and veiled bust of Queen Victoria three quarters left, J R T raised on truncation, legend in English commences at bottom within twin linear circles surrounding, +VICTORIA. BY. THE. GRACE. OF. GOD. QUEEN. OF. GREAT. BRITAIN. EMP: OF. INDIA, cross pommée initial cross, beaded border and raised rim both sides, rev. inverted die axis, Royal Arms quartered within Order of the Garter with crowned helm above, crowned lion supporter facing inwards to left, unicorn facing inwards to right both standing on leaf frame, SIX PENCE above, date in Roman numerals below, thistle, rose and shamrock emblems below, edge milled (cf.ESC 1784A R5; cf.Bull 3314). With a dusky tone with darker perimeter, light surface marks, has been graded and slabbed by NGC as PF61, of highest rarity with this variety.

NGC Certification 4861337-001 labelled as "Bull-3314 var." and as of June 2025 this coin is the top of the population at NGC for this variation.

This variety has italic JRT added to the truncation in raised letters with the milled edge in silvered brass which is not properly recorded in the publications with only one or two existing.
