Victoria (1837-1901), gold Sovereign, 1887, First legend, Jubilee bust left, small and spread J.E.B. initials in straight line on truncation for engraver Joseph Edgar Boehm, hooked J, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, VICTORIA D: G: BRITT: REG: F: D:, rev. St. George and dragon right, date in exergue, B.P. to upper right of exergue, weight 8.00g (DISH L3; Marsh 125B R5; S.3866D). Some surface marks, very fine and a rare die variety within the 1887 Jubilee Sovereign series.

Calendar year mintage c.7,881

The Latin legends translates on obverse as "Victoria by the Grace of God, Queen of the Britain's, Defender of the Faith.
