Victoria (1837-1901), gold Half-Sovereign, 1887 S, Sydney Mint, Australia, Golden Jubilee style bust facing left, designed by J Edgar Boehm, small crown and veil on head, pearl earring with pearl necklace, J.E.B. initials spread and raised on truncation with hooked J, arranged in a slight arc with the B . further away from the J . E ., all upon the truncation or at the juncture of truncation and field, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, VICTORIA DEI GRATIA, rev. struck en medaille, crowned quartered high shield of arms, date below either side of bottom of frame, mint mark letter S directly below frame at border teeth, legend commences lower left with toothed border surrounding, BRITANNIARUM REGINA FID: DEF: edge milled, weight 3.99g (DISH S503; Hill 485B R2; S.3871). Toned with light surface marks and wear, has been slabbed and graded by NGC as AU53, very rare.

The Latin legend translates as "Victoria by the grace of God," on obverse and as "Queen of the Britains, Defender of the Faith" on the reverse.
