Victoria 1887 proof Two-Pounds, Golden Jubilee PF64 ULTRA CAMEO

Victoria (1837-1901), gold proof Two-Pounds, 1887, Jubilee type crowned bust left, J.E.B. initials on truncation, VICTORIA D: G: BRITT: REG: F: D:,the B close to crown, rev. St George and dragon right, smaller date in exergue with misaligned 7, tiny B.P. to upper right of exergue, weight 15.98g (WR 290; Dyer 1a/2; S.3865). Some light surface marks and hairlines, has been slabbed and graded by NGC as PF64 ULTRA CAMEO.

NGC Certification 6027559-015.

We note there are a total of 171 grading records for 1887 Proof Double Sovereigns across both services of which only 23 are graded finer than this coin offered herewith as of November 2020.

The Latin legend translates as "Victoria by the grace of God, Queen of the Britains, Defender of the Faith."
