Victoria 1887 Proof Half-Sovereign

Victoria (1837-1901), gold Proof Half-Sovereign, 1887, Golden Jubilee issue, crowned and veiled Jubilee style bust left, I.E.B. on truncation for designer Joseph Edgard Boehm, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, VICTORIA DEI GRATIA, rev. struck en medaille, crowned quartered shield of arms, date below, BRITANNIARUM REGINA FID: DEF: edge milled, weight 4.07g (WR 362; Marsh 478D; S.3869). Some very light hairline marks in the fields, otherwise brilliant, practically as struck, scarce.

The Latin legends translates on obverse as "Victoria by the Grace of God," and on the reverse "Queen of the Britons, Defender of the Faith."
