Victoria (1837-1901), gold Half Sovereign, 1887 M, Melbourne Mint, Australia, Jubilee bust facing left, design by J Edgar Boehm, small crown and veil on head, pearl earring with pearl necklace, J.E.B. initials spread and raised on truncation with hooked J, arranged in a slight arc with the final stop just intruding the field below, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, VICTORIA DEI GRATIA, rev. crowned quartered shield of arms, date below either side of bottom of frame, mint letter M directly below frame at border teeth, legend commences lower left with toothed border surrounding, BRITANNIARUM REGINA FID: DEF:, edge milled (DISH M502 R4; Marsh 483A R4; S.3870). Lightly toned with some surface marks, good residual mint lustre, graded by NGC as AU53, very rare.

NGC Certification 6322291-003.

Calendar Year Mintage 9,143.

The Latin legend translates as "Victoria by the grace of God," on obverse and as "Queen of the Britains, Defender of the Faith" on the reverse.
