Victoria (1837-1901), gold Half-Sovereign, 1887, London, Tower Hill Mint, Golden Jubilee style bust facing left, designed by J Edgar Boehm, small crown and veil on head, pearl earring with pearl necklace, J.E.B. initials close together raised on truncation with hooked J, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, VICTORIA DEI GRATIA, rev. struck en medaille, crowned quartered high shield of arms, date below either side of bottom of frame, legend commences lower left with toothed border surrounding, BRITANNIARUM REGINA FID: DEF: edge milled (DISH L502 R5; Marsh 478A; S.3869A). Lightly toned with some brilliance, has been graded and slabbed by CGS UK as 65, extremely rare.

The Latin legend translates as "Victoria by the grace of God, Queen of the Britains, Defender of the Faith."
