Victoria 1887 Halfpenny, bun head type, Freeman dies 17+S, MS65RB

Victoria (1837-1901), bronze Halfpenny, 1887, laureate "bun style" bust left, legend and toothed border surrounding, VICTORIA D: G: BRITT: REG: F: D: rev. Britannia seated right with trident and shield, denomination in words surrounding, date in exergue (Freeman 358, dies 17+S; S.3956). Toned around rims with underlying lustre, some tiny specks and spot, has been slabbed and graded by NGC as MS65 RB.

NGC Certification 5880648-004.

We note currently that across both services a total of 184 examples of the 1887 Halfpenny have been graded with only eight of these technically higher at 65 Red or 66 level.

The Latin legend translates as "Victoria by the grace of God, Queen of the Britains, Defender of the Faith."
