Victoria (1837-1901), gold Sovereign, 1885 M, Melbourne Mint, second young filleted head left of the third style, W.W. raised and distinct on truncation for engraver William Wyon, date below, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, VICTORIA DEI GRATIA, rev. St George and dragon right, short tail to horse, date in exergue, small B P initials to upper right, the stops absent, weight 8.00g (Bentley 784; McDonald 169c; Marsh 107A; S.3857C). Toned with some light bagmarks, otherwise extremely fine.

Calendar year mintage 2,966,500

The Latin legends translates on obverse as "Victoria by the Grace of God Queen of the Briton's, Defender of the Faith."
