Victoria (1837-1901), gold Sovereign, 1882-S, Sydney Mint, Australia, third young filleted head left, W.W. clear on truncation, mint letter S below, legend and toothed border surrounding, VICTORIA D: G: BRITANNIAR: REG: F: D:, rev. St. George and Dragon right, short tail to horse, date in exergue, small B.P. initials to upper right, edge milled, weight 7.98g (Bentley 687; Marsh 119; S.3858E). Dusky tone with surface marks, deep digs by eye on cheek, otherwise practically extremely fine.

Calendar year mintage 1,298,000.

The Latin legends translates on obverse as "Victoria by the Grace of God, Queen of the Britons, Defender of the Faith."
