Victoria (1837-1901),gold Sovereign, 1880, second 8 over 7 in date, first young filleted head left of the third style, WW buried in truncation for engraver William Wyon, date below, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, VICTORIA DEI GRATIA,rev. St George and dragon right, long tail to horse, one extra spur of hair in upper left curve, date in exergue, small B P initials to upper right, weight 7.97g (Bentley 315; Marsh 91A; S.3856A).Toned unevenly with handling and bagmarks, scratch in obverse field, a bold fine to almost very fine.

The Latin legends translates on obverse as "Victoria by the Grace of God Queen of the Britain's, Defender of the Faith."
