Victoria (1837-1901), bronze Halfpenny, 1879, "bun" type laureate and draped bust left, thicker shorter hair at nape of neck, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, VICTORIA D: G: BRITT: REG: F: D: rev. Britannia seated right on rock with trident and shield, lighthouse to left without windows, ship to right, date in exergue, denomination in words and toothed border surrounding, weight 5.81g (Fr.339 dies 15+O; S.3956). Patchy tone with some lustre, slight fingerprint, otherwise good extremely fine, practically as struck.

The Latin legend on obverse translates as "Victoria, by the grace of God, Queen of the Britains, Defender of the Faith."
