Victoria (1837-1901), gold Sovereign, 1877 M, Melbourne Mint, third young filleted head left, W.W. raised on truncation for engraver William Wyon, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, VICTORIA DEI GRATIA, rev. St George and dragon right, long tail to horse, date in exergue, small B.P initials to upper right, weight 7.99g (Bentley 765; McDonald 154; Marsh 99; S.3857). Toned, bagmarked, otherwise very fine.

Calendar year mintage 1,487,000.

The Latin legends translates on obverse as "Victoria by the Grace of God," and on the reverse "Queen of the Briton's, Defender of the Faith."
