Victoria 1871 Sovereign St George reverse, long tail, small B.P.

Victoria (1837-1901), gold Sovereign, 1871, St. George reverse, young head facing left, WW buried in thin truncation in relief meets field, engraved after William Wyon, legend surrounding, VICTORIA D: G: BRITANNIAR: REG: F: D:, rev. St. George and dragon right, long tail to horse with no spur of hair, date in exergue, small B.P. to upper right of exergue, weight 8.00g (Hill 84; Bull EGC 1224; Bentley 1216; S.3856A). Toned, with surface marks and some stains, otherwise good very fine and scarce this nice.

Calendar year mintage 8,767,250.

The Latin legends translates on obverse as "Victoria by the Grace of God," and on the reverse "Queen of the Britains, Defender of the Faith."
