Victoria (1837-1901), gold Sovereign, 1866, with 6 over 5, die number 17, second young filleted head left, W.W. incuse on truncation for engraver William Wyon, date below, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, VICTORIA DEI GRATIA, rev. crowned quartered shield of arms, laurel wreath surrounding, die number 70 below, emblems below, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, BRITANNIARUM REGINA FID: DEF: (cf.Bentley 488; cf.Marsh 51A R2; S.3853).Toned, some nicks and hairline marks, has been graded by PCGS as AU55, this overdate only so far known coupled with a die 11 reverse, a new discovery, extremely rare.

Calendar year mintage 4,047,288.

The Latin legends translates on obverse as "Victoria by the Grace of God," and on the reverse "Queen of the Britains, Defender of the Faith."
