Victoria (1837-1901), gold Sovereign, 1863, Roman I in date as 1 over inverted 1, hooked 6 in date, second young filleted head left, W.W. incuse on truncation for engraver William Wyon, date below, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, VICTORIA DEI GRATIA, rev. crowned quartered shield of arms, laurel wreath surrounding, emblems below, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, BRITANNIARUM REGINA FID: DEF:, weight 7.98g (Bentley 97; Marsh 46B R2; Bull EGC 1659 R2; S.3852D). Toned, some light scuffs and hairlines, digs by forehead, very fine and rare.

Calendar year mintage 5,921,669.

The Latin legends translates on obverse as "Victoria by the Grace of God," and on the reverse "Queen of the Britains, Defender of the Faith."
