Britannia seated right with ornamental trident and shield, emblems in exergue, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, BRITANNIAR: REG: FID: DEF : colon further from DEF, weight 18.78g (Peck 1515; S.3948). Toned over considerable lustre, a few light marks, otherwise a pleasing extremely fine and rare.
The Latin legends translate as on obverse "Victoria, by the grace of God," and on the reverse "Queen of the Britons, Defender of the Faith."
