Victoria (1837-1901), silver Groat, 1848, large date figures, 8 struck over 6, young filleted head left, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, VICTORIA D: G: BRITANNIAR: REGINA F: D: rev. Britannia seated right with trident and shield, date in exergue, FOUR PENCE legend surrounding, weight 1.88g (Bull 3341; ESC 1944; Davies 1221; S.3913). Toned, good very fine.

The Latin legend translates as "Victoria by the grace of God, Queen of the Britons, Defender of the Faith."
