Victoria 1847 Crown MS62

Victoria (1837-1901), silver Crown, 1847, young filleted head left, W WYON. RA raised on truncation for engraver William Wyon Fellow of Royal Academy, date below, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, VICTORIA DEI GRATIA, rev. crowned quartered shield of arms, laurel wreath surrounding, emblems below, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, BRITANNIARUM REGINA FID: DEF: edge with incuse inscription, DECUS ET TUTAMEN* ANNO REGNI XI (Bull 2567; ESC 286; S.3882). A few small nicks and surface marks, well struck and toned, good extremely fine, has been graded and slabbed by PCGS as MS62.

The Latin legends translates on obverse as "Victoria by the Grace of God," and on the reverse "Queen of the Britain's, Defender of the Faith."

The legend on the edge translates as "An ornament and a safeguard in the eight year of her reign."
