Victoria 1844 Groat of Four Pence

Victoria (1837-1901), silver Groat, 1844, young filleted head left, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, VICTORIA D: G: BRITANNIAR: REGINA F: D: rev. Britannia seated right with trident and shield, date in exergue, FOUR PENCE legend surrounding, weight 1.88g (Bull 3336; ESC 1939; Davies 1215; S.3913). Attractively toned, some ghosting on reverse, otherwise uncirculated.

The Latin legend translates as "Victoria by the grace of God, Queen of the Britains, Defender of the Faith."
