Victoria 1841 shield Sovereign unbarred A's in GRATIA

Victoria (1837-1901), gold Sovereign, 1841, first young filleted head left, W.W. raised on truncation for engraver William Wyon, date below, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, legend with unbarred As in last word, VICTORIA DEI GRATIA, rev. crowned quartered shield of arms within laurel wreath, emblems below, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, BRITANNIARUM REGINA FID: DEF:, edge milled, weight 7.96g (Bentley 970; Marsh 24A R3; S.3852). Cleaned with light overtones, some nicks and bagmarks, otherwise very fine and extremely rare.

Calendar Year Mintage 124,054.

The Latin legend on the obverse translates as "Victoria by the Grace of God", then continuing on the reverse as "Queen of the Britons, Defender of the Faith".
