Thrace, Cheronnesos, Silver Hemidrachm
Thrace, Cherronesos (c. 400-350 B.C.), Silver Hemidrachm. Forepart of a roaring lion right, its head turned to left and tongue protruding, rev. quadripartite shallow incuse, one quarter containing a pellet and another containing an amphora, 2.25g. (McClean 4122). An exceptional example of this issue, sharply struck from fresh dies and with a well-detailed lion, extremely fine, a delightful little coin.
