Thessaly, Larissa, mid-4th century BC, silver Drachm, head of the nymph Larissa three-quarters left, wearing pendant earring and plain necklace, border of dots rev. ΛΑΡΙΣ above, ΑΙΩΝ in exergue, bridled horse left, crouching and preparing to roll on solid ground line, on which grows a plant, 6.05g, 12h (BCD 288 = BCD 386.2 this obverse die; CNG e350 lot 122 citing Lorber, Hoard, Phase L-I, 17 (same obv. die) = e343 lot 83 = e246 lot 54 ). Rare die combination, the reverse die especially rare, both dies of excellent style, very well-centred, in NGC holder graded XF, strike 5/5, surface 5/5 (die shift).
