The Penitent Magdalene, Netherlands, late 16th century, gilt-bronze, cast and chased plaquette, unattributed, Mary Magdalene in mournful attitude, holding crucifix, behind her a city, Jerusalem, by her side a skull, a scourge and her attribute an ointment jar, 72 x 103mm (Weber 1041.4). Extremely fine.

cf Ashmolean accession no. WA1897.CDEF.B864 for a comparable piece, whose subject is The Repentance of St Peter, where the size, fabric and gilding are identical.
