Sicily, Syracuse, Dionysius I (405-370 BC), silver Decadrachm, c. 400 BC, with reverse die signed by Euainetos, racing quadriga driven left by charioteer, holding reins in left hand and kentron in right, Nike flying right in field above to crown him, in exergue military arms, including shield, greaves, cuirass, and crested Attic helmet, all joined by horizontal spear, ΑΘΛΑ ("prizes") below, rev. ΣΥ-ΡΑ-Κ-ΟΣ-ΙΩΝ, head of Arethusa left, her hair wreathed with ears of barley, wearing triple pendant earring and beaded necklace, four dolphins swimming around, Δ below chin, EY-AINE (die-engraver's signature) visible below bottom dolphin, 42.80g, 36mm, 7h (SNG Lloyd 1413 [same dies]; Gallatin [DII/RIX].
