South Africa, George VI (1936-1952), silver Five Shillings, 1950, Pretoria mint, bare head left, HP below truncation for designer Thomas Humphrey Paget, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, GEORGIVS SEXTVS REX, rev. Springbok centre with fauna on groundline, date above, denomination 5 SHILLINGS below, SOUTH AFRICA - SUID-AFRIKA either side, CLS below right for designer Coert Laurens Steynberg, edge milled, 28.28g (KM 40.1; Hern S315). A fantastic example with proof-like brilliance, minimal bagmarks on obverse, graded by NGC as PL65.

Calendar year mintage 1,200.

The Latin legend translates as "King George the Sixth".
