Scotland, Robert III gold Half-Lion, heavy coinage, XF45 Finest graded
Scotland, Robert III (1390-1406), gold Half-Lion of Two Shillings Sixpence, heavy coinage (c.1390-1403), second issue, Scottish arms within beaded circles, legend with lis stops, triple pellet after G, +ROBERTVS' DEI+ G: REX+ SCOTO+, rev. long saltire cross, fleur de lis either side, trefoil fleur above and below, legend with lis stops, XPC REGnAT XPC VInCIT+, weight 1.94g (Burns 5 fig. 352; S.5157). Toned with light red hue and some wear to high points, has been graded and slabbed XF45 and extremely rare.
NGC certification 6769813-001. We note as of October 2023 that this is the joint second finest graded.
The legends translate as "Robert, by the grace of God, King of the Scottish" on the obverse, and on the reverse as Christ Christ reigns, Christ conquers"
