Scotland, Mary Queen of Scots (1542-67), billon Plack of Fourpence, 1557, issue of 11/12 alloy, crowned Scottish arms, M to left, R to right, linear circle and legend surrounding, pellet stops, initial mark plain cross, +MARIA. DEI. G. REX. SCOTOR. REGINA, 1557, rev. plain cross at centre of ornate cross, crowns in angles, linear circle and legend surrounding, pellet stops, +.SERVIO ET VSV. TEROR. 1557, weight 1.70g (SCBI 35:1078-80; SCBI 58:938-950; SCBI 71:889-904 Stewartby; Burns 5, fig 871; S.5437). Good very fine for issue and rare this well preserved.

The abbreviated Latin legends translate as on the obverse "Mary, by the Grace of God, Queen of Scotland" and on the reverse "I serve, and am worn by service."
