Scotland, John Baliol (1292-96), silver Penny, second coinage, possibly Berwick Mint, crowned head left, sceptre before with pellet on handle below head, beaded circles and legend surrounding, +IOhANNES DEI GRA, rev. long cross pattee, pierced mullets of five points in each angle, beaded circles and legend surrounding, REX SCO TOR Vm+, weight 1.37g (Burns 8, fig 213; S.5065). Toned weak in parts, reverse clearer than obverse, about very fine.

The abbreviated Latin legends translate as on obverse "John by the grace of God, and on the reverse as " King of Scotland."
