Scotland, John Baliol (1292-96),silver Halfpenny, second coinage, smoother flan, crowned head left, sceptre before with pellet on handle below head, beaded circles and legend surrounding, +IOhANNES DEI GRA,rev.long cross pattée, pierced mullet of five points in two opposing quarters, beaded circles and legend surrounding, REX SCO TOR VR+, weight 0.66g (S.C.B.I. 35:315-6; Burns 1, fig 222; S.5074).Toned with some scuffs and short nicks on bust, weak in parts otherwise almost very fine and rare.

The abbreviated Latin legends translate as on obverse "John by the grace of God, and on the reverse as " King of Scotland."
